Strawberry Tart (Tarte Aux Fraises)

This is the first recipe i’ve tried from my newly acquired ‘Mastering the art of French Cooking vol 1 & 2’.
In the book it says “Fresh fruit tarts are easy to make, pretty to look at, and refreshing to eat. They consist of a fully baked tart shell which is lined with pâtissière (custard filling). The fresh fruit is arranged over the filling and topped with apricot or red current glaze”.

True enough, this tart is quite easy to make and very nice to look at! :)

(Recipe is slightly modified from the original version)

  • A 10-inch fully baked pastry shell
  • 1 lb. large, ripe strawberries
  • A container of jelly (i choose strawberry flavour)
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 420ml creme pâtissière
