Erasmus Cocktail Party

Yesterday Erasmus students were cordially invited to a cocktail party by Vienna City Council. Erasmus?? Erasmus is a student exchange program, it has 2 major branches:
one is Erasmus Socrates – the student exchange program within Europe for European Students,

the other is Erasmus Mundus – a new scholarship program offered by the EU to third world country students.

Who could resist this invitation? It was a good opportunity, for me at least, to experience attending a cocktail party. Not to mention, this event was held in the prestigious Rathaus (town hall), with buffet and free flow of beverages.

800 over students turned up. Except for my classmates, the rest are strangers to me, there were not just TU (Technische Universität) students like us, but there were also others from University of Vienna, University of Economics, and all other universities in Vienna.

The party was thrown by the City Council, as an official welcoming ceremony to foreign exchange students. In her speech, one of the city council member congratulated us for choosing Vienna as our place of study, as Vienna is not only known for its academic excellence, but also famous for its living quality. I couldn’t agree more.

Prerana, Ekaterina, Johann and I had a great time last night. The food was great, and there was even a life band there. So we just hang around, enjoyed the music and also the ambience of a cocktail party!

I am so looking forward to more parties!! Up next is the TU annual ball =)

It was mostly finger food. I guess it’s probably appropriate to serve finger food as we were only given high tables and without chairs.

From left: Prerana (Nepal), Ekaterina (Russia), Johann (Austria) and Me.

A toast to these brave girls, who has the guts to study Masters In Computational Logic. We are the only girls doing this course in Vienna.

There were free flow of red wine, white wine, water, orange juice and beer. I drank only orange juice, the wine glass is only for posing in front of the camera =p.

I’m a little disappointed with my camera as it can’t take good indoor photos. They were either too dark or blurry. I had to edit most of them with Picasa software. Click on the link below to view the rest.
