Winter and shopping
22 December 2007
Going clothes shopping during winter is a nightmare. Trust me, really it is. Imagine this, you are all bundled up in layers of clothes, and when you want to try something on, be it a top or a pair of pants, u need to take the layers off….and later put them back on again. Now multiply these steps by the number of shops you visit!! Really tiring.
I’m starting to appreciate the convenience we have in a tropical country. Best attire for shopping -> t-shirt, shorts and a pair of sandals. Speaking of speed and convenience, there’s no match to that!

Here are the “layers” I am referring to…
From top left: woolen sweater, coat, scarf and cap, boots, socks, and gloves. And don’t forget long-johns too.
To look at a bright side of things, shopping for groceries is extremely comfortable during winter. Imagine this, when you wake up early in the morning, and realized that you run out of milk, all you need to do is to put on your jacket, shoes and run to the nearest supermarket, without even changing out of your pajamas!! Nobody knows what you are wearing under the jacket and scarf =p. Did that a few times myself…
Prerana wanted to get a ball gown for the Ball der Teknik (the anuall ball of Technische Universität), so we went around shopping for one. Though I had my own dress, I just couldn’t help trying out a few, just for fun! =)

Nice dresses! :D ...the purple one looks nice ... are they expensive over there?
I thought the shops all have heaters, so wouldn’t need to wear back all the layers before trying another piece rite? They should consider building some kind of tunnel with underground heating to link up all the shops. :-)

John, the dresses are really nice but they are quite pricey, especially after conversion =(.
Our shopping strategy is like this, in a shop, get all the clothes we want to try and try them in one go. So we only need to change once PER shop =p.
