Welcome to the dark side

I agree with Tulips that IT is indeed the dark side.

Like many of you ‘valiant fighters’, I too resisted using IT until one fine day I had to relent because if I don’t, I would seem like a social recluse to my online community of friends.

So what’s so “dark” about IT? This is knight_walk’s exact words, “Welcome to the dark side of web 2.0: The lost of work productivity…” I’ve got a friend who took herself out of IT temporarily because she wants to focus on preparing her final exams. Such a distraction it is!!

In every way, IT lives up to their claim as a social utility that connects you with the people around you. Every single little thing you do is recorded, from the changing of your profile photos, commenting on friends’ photos to the usage of the latest application, these are all chronologically recorded and listed. Scary??!!

Do you know you can find almost everyone there?! Yup, that includes our own high profile politicians….eg: Khairy, Anwar, Raja Petra. I won’t be surprised if Paris Hilton, Brat Pitt, Michael Jackson & etc are in IT.

On the more positive side of things, I wanna applaud developers of IT for creating such a interactive online community. Now with the power of Ajax, updates are done in real time. Isn’t it amazing to see how the Web has changed since the last few years.

“Dark” or not, I think it depends how you use it. Any form of addiction or over-dependence is dangerous! =p

Oh ya Tulips, if you manage to find a way to turn off “this stupid email-me-to-tell-me-what-happen-in-Facebook feature”, let me know!
