The colours of Autumn

Just a few weeks ago, it was mid-autumn and now it’s officially “ripe” autumn.

The transition from lush green summer to white snowy winter is getting more and more obvious every day. In autumn, days are rapidly getting shorter and cooler and the nights are getting longer and gloomier. Well, I am enjoying every single moment of it…

This is the first time I am experiencing this wonderful phonomenon, seeing trees turning yellow and orange. The parks especially are layered with a carpet of fallen leaves. I just love the array of colours here, as I go jogging in the park, I see trees of different shades of yellow, orange and red.

Autumn in chinese poetry has often been associated with melancholy. The possibilities of summer are gone, and the chill of winter is on the horizon. Thoughts and skies turn to grey. But here’s one that can cheer us up…

Merry Autumn Days

‘Tis pleasant on a fine spring morn
To see the buds expand,.
‘Tis pleasant in the summer time
To see the fruitful land;
‘Tis pleasant on a winter’s night
To sit around the blaze,
But what are joys like these, my boys,
To merry autumn days!

We hail the merry Autumn days,
When leaves are turning red;
Because they’re far more beautiful
Than anyone has said,
We hail the merry harvest time,
The gayest of the year;
The time of rich and bounteous crops,
Rejoicing and good cheer.

By Charles Dickens

All photos uploaded are taken with my Nikon Coolpix L3. I think the camera is quite good in taking macro shots.

What do you think of my camera?
