"International Cook" in the making...
5 April 2007
Rasha and I are inspired to become “International housewives”, someone who has the skill of cooking cuisines from different nations and from different ethnic groups. Here in Rainerum, we have students from 28 different nations, spanning across 5 different continents. So learning to cook international dishes is not at all impossible.
Usually during the weekend, we will have some cook out party, where we take turns to prepare some nice dishes. Once in awhile, someone will organize a International Dinner, where everybody prepare some of their local dishes. Well, for me…i can choose to cook chinese, malay or indian dishes. So far, I’ve cooked pineapple fried rice, chinese wanton, malay karipap and curry. I hope I was able to portray the actual dish and preserve the original taste of Malaysian dishes to the international community here.
Once, I was preparing an almond jelly dessert and made a blunder out of it…..Rasha said “don’t worry, just tell them that it’s chinese, nobody knows!!” How true, totally agree with her!!! But don’t worry, so far the food I prepared didn’t really deviate a lot from the original ones =p.
Here’s a portion of food I’ve cooked…a lot were undocumented =(
Pineapple fried rice
Fried vegetable ala Chinese
Fried egg with sausages
Boiled vegetables (own invention)
Italian lasagna
Yemeni spicy fried fish
English Shepherd’s pie
Calzone (Italian)
Future projects:
Learn how to make
i. authentic italian tiramisu from Roberto
ii. mexican tortillas from Alejandra
iii. brazilian chocolate dessert from Daniel
iv. bangladeshi briyani rice from Sadnan and Rashid

Well done. Can’t wait for you to cook for us and let us try out all the cuisines of the world. But I really miss your moon cake jelly (Blue Berry with cheese is my favorite). Sis, make for them this dessert. I’m sure they’ll like it.
